...1980, Queen reached number one on the Billboard 200 Album Chart for the first and only time with “The Game“; which spent five weeks on top of the chart and is tied with “News of the World” for being Queen’s biggest selling non-compilation album in the U.S.
... 1970 Jim Morrison was arrested for the incident in Miami where he allegedly exposed himself during a Doors concert. Morrison was found guilty and sentenced to prison time but he died before his appeal could be heard.
... 1973 Jim Croce and five others were killed when the plane he was traveling in crashed into a tree upon takeoff in Louisiana. Croce was 30 and had only recently scored his first No. 1 hit with “Bad Bad Leroy Brown.” INXS picked their new lead singer, J.D. Fortune, on the season finale of Rock Star: INXS.

... 1976 AC/DC released Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, but it wouldn’t make it to the U.S. for another five years. Yes‘ Tormato began a turbulent time for the prog-rock legends, but Ozzy Osbourne‘s solo debut, Blizzard of Ozz, proved that he could succeed without the other members of Black Sabbath and introduced the world to the guitar genius of Randy Rhoads. Bon Jovi‘s ninth record, Have a Nice Day, topped the charts in 15 countries, although, surprisingly, not the U.S.
...1969, Credence Clearwater Revival reached the top of the U.K. Singles Chart for the first and only time with “Bad Moon Rising” which spent three weeks on top.
