.... 1966,  Jimi Hendrix arrived in London. Brought to the U.K. by Chas Chandler of the Animals, within a short time Hendrix would be befriended the the elite of British rock society.
.... 1969 , Deep Purple bridged the worlds of heavy rock and classical when they performed The Concerto for Group and Orchestra with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The hour-long piece was was composed by Jon Lord with lyrics by Ian Gillan.
... 1971, Yes started their "Fragile Tour" in Devon, England. It was their first tour with Rick Wakeman.
... 1975, Rush‘s Caress of Steel featured two extended suites in “The Necromancer” and “The Fountain of Lamneth,” as well as the less-oblique, “I Think I’m Going Bald.”
... 1979, The Eagles finally followed up Hotel California with The Long Run, which would be their last studio album before their 1980 breakup.
... 1984,  David Bowie‘s Tonight was the start of a turbulent period for him.
.... 1990,  Megadeth released Rust in Peace, their biggest-seller to date,
.... 1990,  The Razors Edge saw AC/DC restore their momentum after a few comparatively weak-selling albums.
.... 1991, Nirvana's album "Nevermind" was released.
.... 2013, The Metallica album "Metallica Through the Never" was released. It was the soundtrack album for the film of the same name.
